What Bridging the Gap Is
- A short-term AA service helping alcoholics leaving treatment or correctional facilities make their first contact with AA in their community.
 - An AA member accompanies a newcomer to their first meeting(s), introduces them to other members, and helps them feel welcome.
 - Part of our Twelfth Step work carrying the message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

What Bridging the Gap Is Not
- Not a rideshare or ongoing transportation service.
 - Not sponsorship or long-term mentorship.
 - Not affiliated with treatment providers AA is self-supporting and nonprofessional.

Why It Matters
Attending an AA meeting within days of release greatly increases a newcomers chance of staying connected to recovery and the fellowship.
